Who is more punishable?

This blog is with reference to the recent judgement ruling Allister Pereira guilty in a hit and run case back in November 2006.

Pereira was supposedly under the influence of alcohol when he drove his car into the pavement which resulted in 7 deaths and another 8 people getting injured. Let us see what the possible reasons are for this mishap.

1. Drunken Driving
2. More importantly, the fact that those people were sleeping on the pavement.

As Pereira has been given a less than justified punishment of 6 months, we only criticize the police for not investigating properly. Are we missing the bigger picture somewhere?

We always blame somebody for an event and fail to understand why it happens and never take precautionary steps.

Had he not been under the influence of alcohol , but if the brakes of the car had failed he would still have killed those people.

Now let us understand why people sleep on the pavement. They do because they do not have a proper home to sleep. Why people do not have a home to sleep? Because people without a home keep giving birth to children even if they do not have the capability to take of themselves. They have a right to keep themselves hungry. They do not have a right to keep their children hungry. How long will they hope that their lives will get better in the future? Please understand that by giving birth to children more and more they are only worsening their lives. Do you want your children to suffer like you do. First get yourself a decent home that can take care of your needs. Even if you take some 20 years to get that, it is worth it. First make sure you can support your child's basic needs.

You do not have any right do deny children their basic rights citing your economic status. Please do think over it. Do you want your children to sell lottery tickets on roads just because you are not economically sound? Why should your children suffer because you could not control your lust?

Think through and make your lives better

( Sorry if I had hurt any of your sentiments , but I had to say this in this way only )

Hmmm... You are writing a blog.. people reading this can afford a computer or atleast a net cafe.. So the part about "childern's basic needs" may not really apply.. Cuz you have to address the lowest classes.

As far as comparing the case to that of brake failure - fact is, the guy was drunk. The brake failure DID NOT happen. The drunken driving DID. So, I think you could probably make an appeal to your viewers saying -"DONT DRINK AND DRIVE" or dont speed, or something that is more relevant.

I am not saying what you said is wrong. The fact is, you have to ask your viewers to spread the word of family planning to the lowest-platform classes like you say. Cuz they wont be reading this right?

But hey, in addition to family planning, basic needs of people should be addressed. Calling ourselves a devoloping nation is a joke as of now.

sevaral reasons why i wrote this blog

1. I wanted to look @ how to avoid this kind of event in the future

2. Blog is the one place that i can express my views

3. I have plans of taking this to the masses in future

4. I am not batting for the guilty, actually i was not talking about that at all. This was something I wanted to write for a long time, but i had to have a lead. Now i got it ,so wrote one.

hey u've gone off the track while speakin abt the Periera case..he was drunk and therefore killed as many as 7 ppl..which is a grave mistake and he should have been given the 10yrs imprisonment for 'culpable homicide' and not jus a 'hit and run' case as they've done here coz of the poor analysis of the police(or were they bribed to produce such a medical report??!!)
abt poor ppl population nd their increasin numbers, they've their own inhibitions abt the prevention measures and the drunk husbands are unruly too..so the wives bear the brunt and the n number of children too..the awareness has to be 'from the bottom up'..and a blog is jus a beginnin..good job..but of lil use..sorry..no offense intended..

well as far as i know they were daily wagers and saying that they couldn't feed their children would be an insult to them no? and its the contractor's duty to provide accommodation for immigrant labour. know what the picture is about before zooming in or zooming out.
